Emotion

Describe: I see two people reaching out towards each other, a fence behind them, some tress/bushes, and the sidewalk. In the foreground are the two people, in the background is the fence, tress/bushes, the sidewalk and the fence. My photo is figurative.

Analyze: Here I used mostly balance and line. The fence in the background behind the two people create a sense of balance because the fence poles are symmetrical. The crossings in the fence wires show a lot of line repetition. The tone is mostly light valued.  The min focus is of the two people reaching for the other. This was done intentionally.

Interpret: My focus was portraying emotion between the two people and them reaching out for one another while looking the opposite way. It gets the audience to think deeper about the exact motive of the photo. The photo turned out mostly light because of the amount of exposure of light that got let into the camera.

Judge: I feel like my photo came out sucsessfully on creating emotion. It keeps the audiance wanting more information about the picture. I also feel that my photo could have used more contrast. This would help bring out the photo more and give it emphasis.

Blurry Motion

Describe: This photo is taken of Laura while she is running. In the background are a few trees and some buildings. This work is figurative because it captures an actual person.

Analyze: The composition of this photo contains line and and texture in the background. The tones are mostly grey-ish, it probably needs more contrast. The main focus is blurry and this was done intentionally. The background is more in focus then the person, but still a little blurry too.

Interpret: The main point of this piece was to capture a burry object in the image. It was taken outdoors on a cloudy day.  The image turned out darker because of the lack of lighting outside. To create more contrast, there needed to be more light or sun.

Judge: I think the work was successful in capturing a blur object. But I also think it could have been more centered, not cutting off any parts of the person, and have a less blurry background. Then again, it is hard enough to capture a moving object at the exact right time.

Stop Action

Describe: I see a girl, Jianna, in the middle of the picture with grass in the foreground and trees in the background. She is mid-ground. The work is figurative because the main focus is a person.

Analyze: The technique I used was stop-action. She is jumping in mid-air throwing some leaves up. There is a little bit of composition in the photo because the background is mostly dark and my main focus, Jianna, is wearing white which creates contrast between the two. The main focus, Jianna, is in focus and this was done intentionally, hence, the stop action.

Interpret: The main point of this photo was too capture a person stopping in time. This was taken outside. This image turned out on the darker side rather then light, because of my choice of background.

Judge: I really feel that I captured am image of stop action well. She is centered, and up in the air at the perfect moment. The background is leveled too.

Blurry Leaves

Describe: A bush of leaves and berries in the foreground (close to). The background is of a wall (further away). This photo is abstract because it emphasizes lines and value.

Analyze: The shapes and tones in the foreground are mostly rounded and curvy. There's dark shades of shadows but also light shades where the sun is reflected off of the leaves. The background of a wall is very simple and has a texture of a prickly feeling. The foreground is out of focus and the background is in focus. This was defiantly done accidentally.

Interpret: The photo is very balanced in contrast between dark and light. This photo was taken outside in the sun.

Judge: I feel like my photo was successful because there is a very strong difference between the two main focuses (foreground and background). I could have just had the leaves in focus instead of the wall, but it seems more interesting to me this way.
